Isaac, our adult Boxing and MMA boxing coach, has loved the sweet science ever since he was a kid, boxing in his sister’s garage in Florida. As a preteen he started training with Coach Ike at the Orlando Y and went on to compete at the Peewee and JR levels and in Florida PAL competitions. As a teen, Isaac competed in USA Boxing sanctioned events as an Elite Eastern Qualifier and in AIBA His amateur record was 17-2.
After taking some time off from the ring, he made his way to NYC and the famed Church Street Boxing Gym where Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis once trained. There he took on “white-collar” bouts before discovering his real interest was coaching. He was extremely fortunate that Rafael Correa, long-time trainer of Héctor Camacho Junior, took him under his tutelage. With Correa, Isaac did everything from wrapping hands to holding mitts, but mostly he focused on the fundamentals of coaching. As Correa got older, he handed off training sessions to Isaac which allowed Isaac to add his own boxing style to his boxers’ technique. At Black Label Martial Arts, Isaac focuses his surplus of positive energy into visualizing and working extra hard in the gym, so his boxers “don’t have to work extra hard in the square circle.”
